Soccer is Life
Soccer has returned to Seattle and, oh, how the enthusiasts do cheer.
After a round of February Friendlies, the Seattle Sounders FC fell to the Montreal Impact in their Inaugural MLS Match on March 3rd. Now that those jitters are out of the way, hopes remain high for the remainder of the season. Soccer fans in Seattle are like no others in Major League Soccer. Our town sells out every league match. We’ve set MLS records for average number of attendees. And we’ve led the league in season ticket sales.
Here are a few things you need to know if you decide to head to a Seattle Sounders FC match this season:
We are a city of soccer-crazed devotees. Every fan in sight is either wearing the official colors of Rave Green or Sounders Blue, has his or her face painted, is donning a wig or faux-hawk, owns a Sounders jersey or scarf, or is outwardly showing pride in the manner he or she see fit. Head to the Team Store, get thee self-outfitted.
The games take place on the X-Box Pitch at CenturyLink Field. There are seats at CenturyLink Field… but you don’t actually sit during the game. You stand. We call this: “showing your FULL 90,” which translates to mean you stand for the full 90 minutes of the game. I mean, you can sit if you want to, but don’t expect to be able to see the game around the person in front of you who is standing up
Don’t be afraid to come hungry. This is Seattle, people. We don’t have just your standard ballpark food here. I’m talking Beecher’s Mac & Cheese if you’re on the lookout.
If you’re ready to check it out for yourself, tickets are on sale at the box office or on the Sounders FC website as the Sounders prepare to battle the Tigres at home next Tuesday March 12th.
GOOOOO SOUNDERS! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
