What Rain?

Pink Umbrellas Pike Place MarketSure it rains a bit during the winter months in the Pacific Northwest and you can either grump about it or you can get with the program and make the most of it!  For one thing, rain in the lowlands typically means mountain snow and we have some amazing resorts to play in throughout the Cascade Range.  From Seattle you can easily get to Mount Baker, Stevens Pass, Mission Ridge, The Summit at Snoqualmie, Crystal Mountain or White Pass for the day or maybe two.

If hitting the slopes isn’t your thing how about nestling up with a glass of Washington wine in front of one of the gorgeous fireplaces at either the Fireside Room in the Sorrento Hotel, the Shelter Lounge in Ballard or maybe the Uber Tavern in Green Lake?

Still sulking about the rain? How about a stroll through one of the countless museums or galleries in Seattle or maybe catch a movie at the AMC or Regal Meridian both in the heart of downtown.  You could always please your inner coffee aficionado by stopping at Caffé Vita, Stumptown or Victrola Coffee and then hide away in a corner of Elliott Bay Book Company.

If you’re still feeling hopeless about the rain, you may be like some of us, where the only way we know how to enjoy the wet weather is by sopping it up with some delicious carbs.  If this is you, then I suggest you pull up a stool in a window seat of Le Panier in Pike Place Market and devour a warm croissant to the sound of the pattering rain.

I hope with these ideas you can now begin to see the light through the rain.
